To all of the guys who were the breakfast, Ross and I went back to his place to pick up a few tools, and and ohms meter. Got back to the vette and the ohms meter Ross picked up at his house, did not work, luckily I had one in the back that did... We checked the main harness coming from the computer for 12 volts---none---That told me to check under the passenger side hush panel where there are three fuse's going into the ECM.. Sure enough, the 12 volt wire to the ECM had blown a fuse. Replaced the fuse and it started right up. Now, I had replaced that wire with a bad wire that TAS has installed. I soldered the wire and had heat shrink on all connections. I will now try to follow the switched wire I tied into to its full length and see if I can find something.
What is strange is that the little rise into the curb exit should short a wire, or was it a coincident ?? I will follow up once I have started tracing the wire. I will have to pull the other hush panel, and the dash cap, and while I am that far into it I may have Nate come over and give me a hand to try to fix the blend door that TAS installed wrong when they replaced the heater core..
Nice seeing all the guys again, what a great bunch of guys. Glad I was able to meet them all....

Ok- Going to pick up the vet. I have to pull the dash, as it needs to be re installed. While I have it off I am going to start chasing down the potential bad wire. Going to spend the weekend fixing little things that i have put off on fixing. More to come.

Ok- I did a booboo and while checking the heater core, I pulled the end of one of the inlet pipes off of the core. Dumped a ton of antifreeze on the carpet. I removed the passenger seat and have pulled the dash apart and I am ready to pull the core. (see photos) While I have everything torn apart, I will try to find the intermittent short. You can see the great job TAS did installing the Gen 7. After I find the short, I will rewire all of the crap hanging down and put in looms. Hopefully it will look almost as good as the Doc's. The next pictures will be the core out. and the the short will be found and corrected, then the cleaned up wiring.

I have removed the heater core. It wasnt' as bad as I assumed it would be. I removed the seat and that helped. (photo below) I have started looking for a potential short and will clean up and bundle and loom as I go. Before I finish I will check every wire I can, may take me a couple of days, then I will put everything back together. Removing and cleaning the carpet will be the most work. yuk!!

WOW that is a ton of work. Of all things I have worked on in the past, I must say electrical is my least favorite. Hopefully next week while I am off work, (Taking time for me) I am going to be about as deep as you are, working on getting my Stereo installed, and fixing a few issues such as getting heat, and getting the cruise to work, and temp guage to work. Also have to swap out my steering wheel so I have to go around the Air Bag stuff. Looking foward to it actually.
Keep up the good work on yours.

If you need any help please give me a shout out. Because I was so friggen tight/stingy, I tried to take off the hoses instead of cutting them. A core is $40. The two hoses were $4. You figure it out. Cut the hoses off, then use a little oil and Vasoline to put the new ones back on. $36 savings. I was shocked to see how easy the hoses go back on with a little oil/grease. That's why you pay Vince to do it, he knows that... Wow, wait till you see the photos. No more wires hanging down. Checked them for potential shorts, and put them in a loom and tied them back where they should have gone. I guess TAS thinks they look cool hanging down like spaghetti. I am looking for a new place to hang the ECU but that will have to wait until the heater core goes back in. Then some more photos. I have a very strong feeling the intermittent short is under the hood. That's next. Here's the deal. My wiring will look like the Doc did it, and under the hood will look like Leadfoot did it. I have all winter to get it all done. Then off to the races, and some cruises.....

What an idiot. I found 3 more scotch locks, under the drivers side dash attached to wires coming from the steering wheel. Why didn't the idiot just tie into the fuse box that was 8 inches away. I rewired the wires to the keyed fuses going to the ECM, and cut out the wires to the scotch locks, removed the scotch locks, soldered and heat wrapped the joint on the wire. No more problems there. I dont know if the scotch locks were causing the intermittent short, but they are gone. The spaghetti wires hanging down are now wired from the fuse box in the corresponding fuse, and bundled in loom. It is really looking good under the passenger side hush panel. And I know every wire that I have touched that was not already in factory looms are good, soldered and heat shrinked.

Here is what a scotch lock looks like for you who have had good work done on your car. I wonder how many of these TAS auto the "Corvette Specialists" use a year. They work on the premise, never do warranty work, and hope the owner sells the car before the scotch lock fails. Great business model.... Below are the same exact connectors I have replaced. He wired the complete Gen 7 with these bastard connectors, along with all of the wires he cut because he did not know what he was doing. I'll bet I have replaced 30 of these things..

Well, you just went through the heater core. By doing the heater core that makes us C4 hero's. Yeh for us.....

Ok--Heater core is back in tested, blowing good and hot. Last several days I have been cleaning up the wiring. While I have every thing apart I am fixing anything that looks like it needs it. I have moved the ECM and the wires you see hanging down are the two connectors to the ECM, a set of cables to hookup the laptop, and the wires to the wide band processor. Looks pretty good, almost as good as the DOC... Once I get every thing on the inside buttoned up and detailed, I will start on the engine bay.

There was just enough room to mount the Gen 7 ECM to the top part of the passenger hush panel. Hopefully it is far enough away from the coil to not have electronic radiation. If it shows problems when connected to the laptop, I have found a place I can purchase lead sheets for about $6. I am starting to put things back together, and I now have to remove and wash the carpet on the passenger side.
