The crank I have is a 2 piece main, the one you need(88-up) is a one piece. Now I DO have a 2 piece block as well,we could use, along with the 400 crank and I may even have some rods(will have to look) All 400 cranks are for two piece rear main seals. The main bearing journals will have to be turned down to fit a 350 block. His rods will work, but better bolts and resizing of the big end are the minimum he should do. Depending on whether reconditioned or not or after market rods, yours may be a better choice. If your rods are 400 rods, like the crank, he can use 350 pistons rather than 383, stroker pistons.

You and I need to talk some money really soon. I need to know how much for parts that you have, vs. what I need, and what I want. Then I gotta see what I have to work with. I think the idea of being able to use parts other than what came with my car originally, as long as they are stronger is the thing I would perfer to do. I know you know where this car is headed Vince, so lets plan on making the bottom end really strong!

i personally dont like the engine platform in the C4's... im a major anti LT1 guy and the other series motors just never really impressed me (no offense)
The LSx series in the C5's and C6's is just amazing. i personally can not think of any better platform for modification in the world than an LS1 setup. they make rediculous power with just minimal modifications.
Not to mention the price on C-5's has plummeted as of late. you can pick up 97's for like 15k !!! Besides rear ends blowing up they are pretty solid platforms. The rear end issues can usually be solved with nice soft slicks or just taking it easy.

We gotta build what we can afford. By the time I am done building a new engine for my POS I will still have way less than the 15K that it takes to start with to build a C5. But then again, there is a major difference in these cars. Maybe if I ate more beans like Snowman I could afford the C5! ;-)

with 9k you can get to the 10s all you need is a really really strong bottom end and a big spray!!!!!8.5-1or 9.0-1 comp. and a 250 shot should do it. you will need the high end forged parts and maybe even criogen freeze every thing else for extra strength

Not that right now I am shooting for the 10's I just wanted to use up the $15000 starting price of the C5 that was mentioned.

my 10 sec. yes you can is also on top of the fact that the motor you build will have to put out 350-400 hp nat asp. without spray! then at least high 10s are can be had what do you think vince? c4 307 gears and 600-650 hp and maybe put it on a diet to get a 10.99 pass? and hey if you dont get 10s at rmr just drive down to pamona and get your 10s on. i miss pamona its great and the car show and swap meet every saterday and not to say anything about the super chevy show yae i miss it.

why would you build low compression for nitrous? nitrous loves high compression. it just isnt super fond of lumpy cam seperation angles. running fast quarter mile times is ALL about track prep and tires/suspension.... you have to have all 3 or excel in the suspension area. RMR is a joke, it is almost impossible to run good times there without a LOT of luck. They prep the ET events pretty well, but if you try and run the midnights good luck. If you want to run fast you dont even need the HP, you just need to get your race weight clear down. This will also make it easier to cut killer 60's as there is less dead weight to get going. my car is just dumb, it traps almost as high as vince's but i have never gotten the car to hookup well enough to break into the 10's. it makes plenty of power, just doesnt like to put it down to the ground

YEA NOS LOVES COMP. BUT SO DOSE KNOCK AND BANG!!!! TACHOUT ON A BUDGET = NO ROOM FOR A BLOWN MOTOR SAFE IS BEST WHEN YOUR LOW ON CASH! YOUR ADDING CYLINDER PRESS. WITH NOS AND IF YOU GO LEAN YOUR GONE MORE O2=BIGGER BANG LIKE BOOST MORE O2 BUT WITHOUT ALL THE OTHER USELESS GAS THAT GETS CRAMED IN AND LOW TEMP TOO. NOT EVERY ONE MAKES LOW COMP. NOS MOTORS BUT FOR TACHOUT IT MAKES SENCE.

If all I do is melt some plugs that would be fine as I can take plugs with me, and stay in the running and still be able to get home, but my fear is that I would break something much more expensive. I work in the housing market and until it improved putting big money into a toy is not something in the budget.
