Some random pics in no particular order.Upgrading a C5Z rear diff. These are the shafts that break as well as the heavier duty C6Z shafts we typically replace them with. The short side is a 2-pc shaft and gear instead of the weak, hollow cast one piece that comes stock and is pretty much guaranteed to break on a built car. Long side shafts break where they are undercut, just inside the outer spline area.New shafts are much beefier in this area and hold up much better to continued abuse.

On this car we are updating to a carbon Fiber Driveshaft, produced by Pfadt racing for Corvettes.A truly beautiful piece, too bad it is hidden away inside the torque tube.Probably HALF the weight or less than a stock alum shaft,it feels like a cardboard wrapping paper tube from xmas ! And here is where it goes !

Trans and rear diff ship Monday from RPM. Working on the suspension,we are upgrading to spherical bushings(also from Pfadt) as well as Coilovers. Couple pics of the bushing kit and install, not too bad a job ! And here going in the control arm(a rear lower in this case)

The happy delivery truck came today(and yesterday too) and brought a nice gift for Park. Notice this setup will have both a transmission cooler as well as a rear diff cooler.I will have to post up some pics as it goes together,we are going to have a bit of creative plumbing and cooler mounting on this car(never mind the dry sump engine !)

Better look at the trans pump assy. On the lift, ready to install. The rear end also has an oil pump attached, just like the C6Z. And here is the whole assy, with the CF torque tube bolted up,ready to install. And back in the car, bolting in place. Another view. I will add some more tomorrow,LONG day today, putting yet ANOTHER C5 vette together(heads and cam car)

Laid out the dry sump setup, mounted the pump and added up what I needed to order in the way of -10 and -12 AN fitting and hoses. I will have to post a pic of what $1465 worth of AN hoses looks like, man is that stuff expensive ! And the pretty alum tank that came with the kit.

And amazingly enough there is approx $1200 worth of AN fittings and hose in this box, most going to plumb the dry sump and trans/rear diff coolers on this car(-12 hose NOT pictured, that was $250 by itself !) And even with all that,I had to order a couple different fittings as the suction side of the dry sump hoses interfere with the frame(or vis-a-versa !)

New engine is in the car, been VERY busy so havent had a chance to update til this evening. You may also notice the remote reservoir Pfadt coilovers on this car, very nice double adj shocks for a well sorted out road racing setup. One detail I didnt get a pic of(yet) is the sweet ZR1 clutch setup we installed in this car.Apparently one of the first ones installed in a C5 as the customer had to source a custom built clutch master cylinder to mate up to the ZR1 clutch slave(required for the dual disc clutch)One little item nobody mentioned was the fact the the installed height/bellhousing depth of a ZR 1 clutch setup is approx 3/4 inch longer than a C5,HMMM,now the trans mount wont work(or worse, the engine hits the rack and pinion) Next up,custom offset trans mount to accommodate the length of the new setup. I think this car is turning into one of the more challenging builds we have done(besides my monstrosity,Tarzan) More to come this weekend, need to fit the headers, brackets and start building more dry sump hoses.

Neat stuff. Cool to see and glad someone has the coin to do it.
Just curious, is it possible to use OEM Z06 hardware on a non-Z06 block?

What OEM z06 hardware? The dry sump? No because the LS7s have a long snout crank to drive the oil pump. Oil pump seals to the dry sump pan. Etc. Now you could run a long snout crank in a different block and make it work.
