Welcome! I had a hot Saturday night date with Barrett Jackson (auto auction) and saw a ton of C3s they were auctioning off. The C3 grew on me that night

the car has a short to ground causing the courtesy lighting, clock and power door locks to not work. Ive torn into it for a few days and had the dealer look at it to no avail. Last night I got the fuse panel mostly out and noticed a fair ammount of corrosion in the fuse sockets. the water temp guage is also way messed up.
If anyone has some experience with this scenario i could realy use some advice befor I start replacing wiring harnesses, which I realy dont want to do due to me liking driving the car more that tearing it apart .
also, how do you post pics here?

I had to replace the complete interior in my '68, but that was back in 1969; fire job. Unfortunately I don't have any specific memories of the wiring. I would simply start at the fuse block and test each circuit, one at a time, until you can narrow it down through a process of elimination. Electrical problems such as yours are all about labor and time. It isn't particularly difficult, but it is time consuming, unless you get lucky and stumble over the cause early on. This forum accepts pictures like most. First, you have to up load the pic to a host, like Photo Bucket. Then click on the image icon while writing a post and paste the URL of the pic between " " and "[/IMG]".

Nice Car ! You will find a couple of our members with similar cars, should be able to get some good advice as well. as for the wiring issues, like Jim said, isolate and track the problems one at a time, throughout the circuit in and orderly fashion and be sure to check for loose/corroded wires(which it sounds like you are) A color, printed diagram of the questionable circuits will help make for quicker diagnostics,if you have the manual with diagrams, have a Kinkos copy/enlarge them then use a color marker(s) to identify the circuits in question,it will make things go much quicker.

I was able to get a reprint of the original factory shop drawings that show where the wiring harness' are and one of those Haynes manuals from Autozone but I have yet to locate anything that shows the actual circuit schematics for this car. Do you have any idea where real schematics can be obtained?

I was just about to ask. It looks like you figured out the pictures. My FSM came with a complete whole car wiring schematic. It sounds like Highpockets has you covered.

I just realized that I've never introduced myself, how rude huh? Don = Vet-Dream I tried for Vette-Dream as I use that on corvetteforum.com and some other boards but couldn't have that many characters. In case the name is confusing, I've never served in the military But with my job I have been able to work in some of the 'coolest' federal, miltary facilities around the nation/world. My wife and I picked up our 1998 C5 Convertible a number of years ago, and after it was paid off the first thing I did was install a 125 shot of nitrous After a few years I realized that the nitrous was fun but it was a pain to keep the bottle full and so this summer we (which my wife would say means 'me') installed an STS turbo kit on the vette. I've always been more of a driver than a mechanic, so if you can imagine me installing my turbos in my garage with my car up on jack stands for two months... all the while I constantly was reading and searching using a computer I set up in the garage for the Internet to try to see just how in the world I was going to get my car to work again after I had taken it all apart. But in between work trips, I was able to finally get my car moving... and after jumping on the HPE Tuning session up in Riverdale a couple weeks back, I was finally able to see the completion of my turbo project! I really thought I would just 'bolt on my turbo kit' and then drive my car around like I had been doing for years... I didn't realize that I would be turned on to so many great folks in the area who are crazy about their cars like I am about mine. I also really thought my project had a logical end to it, instead I'm afraid the cat's out of the bag now... where will it end? Vince certainly isn't helping me see the end of the road, all he's doing is pointing out distant peaks I didn't know existed lol! Anyway, just saying hello to everyone, and to the folks I've met so far (Vince, Mark, Bob, Wayne, Jim, and a couple others who were at the HPE tuning day I'm sorry I have forgotten names already!) and I look forward to meeting more of you in the future!

hi i dont think i ever posted my intro on here, im Pascal, French, bought my 99 vette over a year ago, and soon had to go faster, i put on a TTi turbo system, (when i say i i mean Vince) Hi Don. I removed those cats for testing and feel the difference. I found out theres a guy in Provo with a wheels off type dyno i want to retest to see how much it helped. Im a nut and often go up to strangers in vettes and tell them about this website. Today i saw a brown convertible like Bigabytz driving on 123rd south but didnt follow them.
