Hey fellows here is whats up in a string of small problems I have been dealing with. I am slowly losing a small amount of coolant as I drive. I will come to a stop light and I will notice a bit of what looks like white smoke, which smalls of antifreeze comes out from under the hood on the drivers side. I dont notice it when I am driving, and when I had the car running idling(which is when I notice after driving) I didnt notice any spraying or leaking out from under the car or any obvious signs of leaking.
Any ways to troubleshoot this or wait till I get it up on jack stands and can have a better look. Temps are staying normal and not spiking.
Thanks

Thanks THERE ISN'T MUCH YOU CAN DO UNTIL YOU CAN FIND HOW IT'S GETTING OUT.I I HAVE JACKS AND JACK STANDS IF THAT WILL HELP. RACE ON!!! JIM

Well so found that my white smoke issue I think was actually clutch fluid hitting the exhaust system from the clutch hose that was bad.
So what i do know is that I am loosing the fluid , where trying to track down. I dont see any puddles or pooling under the car, no white exhaust, and not seeing anything in the engine bay that looks like it is leaking. Also when i changed the oil on it didnt notice the oil looking like it had coolant in it. I did notice as i was refilling it cold yesterday that i would get it full and let it sit and it would drop the level some and fill again and drop more. I do know this could be related to air bubbles and pockets in the radiator, but always dropped to the same level in the radiator.
So my questions are, if the car isnt on and the level is lowering to me makes my suspect my radiator is that since the system isnt pressurized at that point it shouldnt be working through the engine itself and to me would seem to rule out a headgasket. Wouldnt think hoses unless it was flowing into that hose at the top with the help of gravity since the level stayed consistent and was higher or looked higher than all the hoses i saw.
Going to see about getting a pressure tester to see if i can find a leak. to track this down but thought I would see what everyone else thought with the info i have.

You also have a oil cooler attached too your oil filter. That hose runs up front. You will want to check to see if that may be leaking. You will need to get the car up in the 220 or so areas so that you have enough pressure to possibly show any leaks.

I have a pressure tool you can use. It hooks on where your radiator cap goes, and you just pump up to the pressure of your cap.... then look for leaks.... and I have a floor jack you can use to get under it too if you want to drop by sometime.

Nate, photos do not show much, cant tell a thing. I would look for the hose connection under the throttle body to be a possible leaker

Well.. not a big thing for most who have worked on car's, but it looked like it was the thermostat.. So I decided to get a little gutsy for me, and yanked it and replaced the sensor that controls when the fan comes on. So far as i idled the car up to 230 coolant and around 200ish oil temp, didnt notice a drop of leaking, and the fan kicked on by itself and temps seemed to maintain ok.. Going out later for a road test, but so far so good.
Thank for everyones help on it.
