Well we were going to go fossil hunting down hear Delta Utah. Well I get down to Nephi and stop and get gas and head off the beaten path to head to Delta. That is when things got bad. We headed out towards and in the middle of no where the truck just stopped running. I could not keep it going to save my life, and no codes or anything. Finally got it started and limped into what could only be described as a gas station/minimart/resturant/rest of the town. What a little hole in the wall. Sat there for a bit, and started the truck again, with no check engine light, and we went on. Went about 10 miles and it started again, and this time threw on the check engine light. Not that his helped any since I had no tools, nothing with me at all. Well we head back to the hole in the wall where I asked if there was a pay phone handy. The lady said nope, best we gots is my cell phone (Yes that hillbilly) Anyway there are all these cruise posters everywhere so I think maybe I am in luck and someplace there is a mechanic around. I asked that question to which I get the answer.... the guys with all the cool cars are up at the UVU Car show.... go figure. Well the truck had set for quite some time so I decide to try to get back to Nephi. Well we get back to where the trouble began and there is a Big O Tire store there. Well I asked if they had a scan tool thinking maybe it was something simple that had come unplugged. Well the started by saying I needed to replace all 4 of my O2 Sensors.... and then the guy said wait a second lets look on the computer. Never did tell me what codes it pulled. Well we check the computer and he said it could be a fuel pump and I should plan on about $800 just for the parts...... "SH it" No way. Well I asked could it be the fuel filter that was cloged and could I have gotten bad gas. They said now but agreed to try changing the fuel filter anyway. He got it up in the air to get to the fuel filter, and while he was pulling it off I found another small problem. The bolt for the lower control arm on the drivers side was about to come out, and the nut had been gone for some time. Once we pulled the filter off he could not blow threw it and rust came out of the filter... Funny I have a plastic tank on the suburban, and the filter is like 10000 miles old. He puts a new filter in and says the pump will not last to make the truck home to Sandy but wished me luck there. He beat the bolt through the A Arm, Mind you that was after he loosend he torsion bar an had to still get in there with a prybar to get the arm back in place. The thread were beat a hell and I do not want to say how the frame looks around those bolts.... Both sides look nasty. Anyway he goes to try to put a nut on the end of the bolt, and it is now stuck on there with his recommendation to torch the old bolt out, and replace it before I drive it. Looked stong to me and I figured I could make it home. Ran like a top all the way home, but what a day.
