With the weather being so nice today, I think I will go out to the abandoned air base and see if I can get the "launch control" working on the vet. In essance, I will retard the timing back to "0" then bring it on slowly to full timing at 4000 RPM. Target is to cut back the launch HP to about 300. The Gen 7 has a launch controller that allows me to program in many variables on the launch. I am hoping to stop the horrendous tire spin. Let you know how it all works out, "or will I".......... ;D

How about just getting some tires that hook? I can launch at 4500rpm and all my car does is bog down with my drag radials and I think I make a bit more power then you.

I am concerened about my dana 36 rear end. Until I can purchase and install a Dana 44 I am trying to stay away from slicks, but I know if I want to launch and have decent 60 ft times thats the road I have to take.

I think slicks are easier on the rear than DRs. I know on the snowmans car that is 100% the case. BTW,4500 rpm clutch dumps on 5psi of boost is FUN !!!!

ok, it seems I have to wire a dual pole switch to the ecm. There are two aux wires coming out of the ecm. One is a ground and the other is an input. I have to flip two switchs in the software and wire a ground, and a 12 volt source at the same time. I had already wired the ground. When I flip the toggle it grounds and triggers the 12 volt at the same time, activating the launch control. We will be taking off the dash pad and doing a bit of rewiring this sat. If this works, I will be able to fine tune the amount of torque I need for leaving the line based upon the type of tires I have on. Until I can afford a Dana 44, a set of Mickey Thompson tires, a set of wheels, this will have to do. The major consolation is that it will be much easier on the drive train, and, give me much more consistant launches. Whooooeee Below is a jpg of the control panel for Acell gen 7 which controls the launch control..

Ok, pulled the dash pad, pulled the ECM and ran a switchable hot wire to where the new dual pole switch will be. Ran a wire back to the input wire on aux 1. Already have the "trigger" switch ground wire ran. I have ordered a rocker switch that looks just like the rocker switch that runs the running lights, and will be mounted just above the factory switch. As soon as the rocker switch arrives I will hook up the wires and make some test runs.
Now for the really good news. When I switched communication cables from a 9 pin to a usb, when running with the engine on it would lock up my laptop. The guys at Acell said I was geting interfearance from the spark plug and coil wires. I moved the ECM, and sure enough, laptop now runs when the engine is running..Whoooeeee....Back to the dyno for more tuning...I will now be to see what is going on while running and make changes on the fly...
As soon as the switch arrives, I will install and start test runs. My Gteck will give me 60 foot times so I can make a bunch of runs and tune it in.

While waiting for the Launch control switch to get here, I decided to fix the door panels. I have the drivers side off and under major surgery. If GM would have built these panels any cheaper, mmmmm, nope they could not have built them any cheaper. Anyway I am fabrication 4 hangers which inturn are epoxyed to the plastic panel. In this way I will be able to keep the whole thing together. I have a very good stash and selection of glues now and all looks good. I will have the drivers side back on the car tomorrow after all the glue dries.

We have "Launch Control", I will now put my dash back together, reset my GTec so I can see what my 60 ft tiimes are and start making runs to dial it in. The more I use the Gen 7 the more I like it... Woooweee!!
