Need a new battery. Is an Optima worth the money? It has crossed my mind that the CPU is directly under the battery tray and have been concerned about any leakage. What's you thoughts?

Only if you plan to deep cycle it is an optima worth it IMO. If you have a large stereo or something like that.

Buy a good interstate or even sears diehard gold. Also grab a battery tender and plug it in over the winter. The lack of use as well as the constant drain from multiple computers will drain even a good new battery in less than a month in these cars.
