Hey all I have had a problem with the vert not acting right. I get a check engine light when I am almost to work, or almost home on my way home. I am needing to get the POS smog checked so I thought I would pull the codes so I could start fixing things this weekend.... Some odd responses came up. First let me give some history on things I know are wrong.
I am missing the wire to one of the Temp sensors. The sensor in the head is not hooked up. When I got the car, the sensor was pluged into a wire, and the wire ran up under my plenum however was just bare and not plugged into anything. The temp gauge did not worked. (Still doesnt).
Beyond that the tach reads atleast twice what the engine really is spinning. First thought was a bad Tach filter... when I did the heads on the car, when I got it, I swaped out the tach filter with the one from my Coupe that I know was a good one... and it did not fix the problem....
I had to hook the fans up to a switch and turn them on and off manually.
Now onto the codes that pulled up tonight:
Code 22 TPS Signal Voltage Low Code 32 Not shown in my FSM Code 46 VATS Circuit
Now the car starts and runs fine, other than it does not go into closed loop. The VATS Circuit is odd, and who knows what a Code 32 is.
Beyond this, I need to fix my Vacuum for the Defroster is jacked. I need to find that little plastic line that comes out of the dash and hook it up to the check valve. Just have not done that yet.
Any thoughts?

With some research the Code 32 is an EGR Code. I will have to check everything there as I know these cars have EGR control silenoid problems and lucky for me I have a spare new one. I will start with replacing that this weekend. Well set my TPS this weekend according to the FSM and then clear the codes. Then I will drive it and see what comes up. Welcome any sugestions here.

I have put a small plan together for the Vert. I am going to swap out the exhaust from the Coupe exhaust. I am going to pull the distributor for a couple of reasons... I am going to fix the defrost/heat vacuum, and then replace the distributor with the one out of coupe as it was in much better shape. Then I am going to follow all the vacuum lines from the EGR and make sure that are good. Replace the EGR Control Solinoid that I have on the car with a known good one. Then make sure the wires are in ok shape there. Then make sure its vacuum is in good shape. Then set base timing, and verify idle RPM is close. Verify the TPS voltage at closed throttle, and if not, set it. Going to pull the drivers side valve cover and try to quite that rocker/lifter and get it to stay quite until it passes smog. Beyond that some basic maintenance like an oil change, and plug change and then do some wire clean up under the hood to make sure it is all it clean shape.
Once it passes smog there will be a new list to make it run better, but for now we will see how that works. According to my note book, it is getting around 15 miles to the gallon adveraged out between some freeway some around town. That is terrible, and it should be getting much better. I have kept a record since around december of miles and how much it takes to fill the tank, and it is not good. I really drive it conservitive to so I am thinking that there is something wrong and need to get it right before trying to smog it.

I agree with your second paragraph; your fuel economy is indicating (to me) that something(s) are amiss. I get 19-21 driving mine, to and from work. Mixed roads. I think your plan of attack is pretty good. I'd definiltey do the "tune up" items, then follow the flow charts for the rest, code by code, symptom by symptom. Keep us posted!
