Just spent an hour with my transmission guy. He had my trans totally apart. Not only did my convertor fail and stripped the input shaft gears, but the major problem is that the clutch material(carbon) has been failing for some time and has wiped out many races and parts, like running sandpaper through the trans. The 3/4 clutch pac had some life left. So in major discussions with Pete K on the corvette forum on which parts to replace and to verify my trans guy was telling me the truth about the races being wiped out (automatic transmission center in ogden)
Parts and labor---$2500 bucks. He is only charging me 300 labor. Now hear this, The company I purchased the original $700 converter is TCI, the converter is a piece of S H I T. Only one converter company out there Precision (5 year warranty) Little pricey $1200 for triple clutch. Who owns TCI, none other than Comp cams (had a comp cam break into) They told me it was design flaw with the gen 1 engine that caused the break. Stay away from anything comp cams make
Bottom line, you race, you break, 2nd bottom line you race with cheap parts, your defiantly going to break and its going to cost you twice as much. Cheap POS converter created this bottom line. $2500 to rebuild trans right, and $1200 for precision converter. Total is $3700..... Every time I have bought cheap parts it has cost me.......

No, I changed subject due to comp cams owing TCI, and when my cam broke, Comp said the reason my cam broke was a flow in the gen 1 motor...
