What a great weekend! This past week we had my Grandson's dad here for the past week. He flew in from Pearl Harbor where he is stationed as a Sub Mechanic. Really a great guy. We have been watching my Grandson the past 4 months. He came and stayed for a week, and then took Doug home to North Carolina. Was sad to see him head home.
This past week, due to needing to sign our new lease here, we just took on some more property, and what better way to keep the weeds down than to get a Natural Weed Erradication device. Since it is a major undertaking to clean out and keep up on 6 acres of weeds and over growth. We are now the proud owners of 3 goats. I know when you read the title you hoped for GTO well sorry no Pontiac here, just cute little goats.
We got a Nigerian Dwarf we call Harvey
A Myotonic, named Ben
A Half Myotonic, half pigmy named Currie (You know like Currie Goat Yummy Yummy).
Myotonic is a Fainting goat....
Then we went out and started to clear weeds with a weed eater, as there is no way the little goats will eat that much between now and winter. After we did some work we decided that we would reward the kids so we decided to go camping... and since the kids had never been camping we thought it would be best to set up the tents in the back yard, and just camp out back. If they got scared, or needed to go to the bathroom or what ever, they could just go in the house, and there would be no long drive home after having to break down a tent at night.
Once the tents were set up, I got all the stuff together for Hobo Stew. Hamburger patty with spices, and stuff (very similar to meatloaf) and then potatoes, carrots, and green peppers. Then wrap them in foil, and get the coals very hot in the bottom of the smoker (Simillar to just putting them in a camp fire full of coals) and I let them cook for a while as we sat out back and relaxed. Then after dinner, and spending some time on the phone with other family members back home, the girls and I camped out back, as my son had fallen asleep in the house, and wanted to stay there. The wife slepted inside with him. Man it was cold.
First thing this morning I got up, gathered eggs from the chickens, and made fried potatoes (out of the left over red potatoes from last nights dinner) and egg and cheese omlets. What a great breakfast. Before breaking down the tents, I layed a weld down to put a hold down back on a buddies exhaust and then we broke down the tents and have come in for lunch. What a perfect weekend, well almost. I will share more about that later.
