Welp, I finally got myself to the track. I went to a Friday night "high school" event, where teens from around the region get to race each other. Of course, my goal was to tag 13's again, same as before. Conspiring against me was that:
*I haven't driven (like that) in a long time -since the crow eating event. So I feel out of practice.
*I added big brakes, chassis reinforcements, and larger wheels (weight) since my last outing
*With the wheels came some really crappy tires that don't hook at all.
*Higher elevation, at 4800'.
Well it took a while, but on my 8th pass, I ran a 13.95@100.4, and then backed it up with a couple more 13.9x's at just a smidge over 100.
I had fun. Track is tight on money, but that doesn't stop them from being well run, organized, and VERY friendly. I actually had the Satging lanes guy helping to push my car with me. Everyone was really nice, helpful and they don't care if you do things like "back up into the water", line up with a pal, and other things that you get yelled at for at "other tracks". I made 11 passes in three hours, (with cool downs between some of the runs). Longest wait in line was probably 10 min. I left at about 10PM, happy with my number of runs, my driving performance, my car's performance, and the track in general. I had fun and I will go back.
I thought about you guys while I was there...and I thought about Jim. I miss Jim.
ALmost forgot; I had a "sighting" while there; a Mercedes SLR McLaren. Guy had never been to a drag track before and went 12.0@120 on his second pass. Excuse me...the CAR went 12.0@120 on it's second pass, when the guy put everything into "auto" mode and simply pushed the throttle down. I was fairly impressed. Car looked like a technological marvel.
