Well it is official. After getting the motor running again, and making it run good, it appears that the drive home on the engine, with the broken TV cable had a greater effect on the car that expected. I have no Over Drive, No Drive, and have to manually shift it into 2nd. It is done. I am getting pricing to have my 700r4 rebuilt. I am not sure if I want to just drop it off, have the trans R&R and all done, or if I want to pull the engine and trans, and while the trans is out being rebuilt, just go ahead and refresh my engine. The cash saved on the R&R I could dump into the rebuild of that tired L98 and with how cheap small block parts are, I could throw a little machine work into it for about the cost of the Trans R&R and then I could buy bearings and rings, and basically have a new bottom end. Then throw a cam, and lifters in the engine, clean up everything, clean up the electrical as I put it back in, and have a fresh engine and trans, and have a basically new car, short of the paint it needs, and by the end of the summer (Have to budget the cash on this) have a great running new car that just needs a paint job.

Man....that is how your last car ended up where it's at! I'd get the trans done and drive it as is. P.S. You drive w/the TV cable disconnected, it fries the trans. That should be expected. TV cable regulates line pressure, so when it's not being drawn, your line pressure (used to squeeze the clutches together) is low, clutch pressure is low, and clutches slip...bad. Sorry to hear about your break down. My vote; throw a trans in get get full utility from that motor!

Problem with just throwing a trans in it will not solve all of the problems. With it having 2 Fuel Pressure Regulators going bad that thing has had so much Gas dumped in the oil, when I have the oil full to where it should be, and I give it a hard launch, the back pressure is so great in this engine, it will push the dipstick out, and push oil all over the right side of the engine, and exhaust... and it is a gutless wonder with very low compression.
I will weigh my options, and look at my budget when the time comes.... Just have to look at the work I am doing, look at the bills, and go from there. I need to get caught up on the work coming in, and see what happens with the next batch of work coming in. Working for yourself is not like getting a paycheck you can count on.

I talked to a buddy of mine from back home last night. He told me that he does not think it is the trans. I described to him how the trans was acting and he said he thinks the TV Cable is out of adjustment. Then I told him the end had broken on the TV cable and I put one of those fixit ends on the cable. He told me it sounded like it just needed to be adjusted, and once I had it adjusted I might just get lucky and would be able to get it to make it through the summer. I have never done one. I plan to try to read the service manual but my guess is it will be over my head. Anyone on here know how to do it, and would like to come by to help? I would pay someone if they could help me and know what they were doing.

I posted up on the UMCA board as well as here. Got some help with directions, and once I could see what the guy was talking about, I was able to get it to react just like the guy said it would. It helped some as now I have first and second, but third it still slips in, and then it does now have some of overdrive, and when in overdrive, and I step on the gas, it does down shift. I am almost positive it is going to have to visit a Trans shop for a new trans... Just thought I should give it a try.
