I am wondering from you guys that have a C4 what kind of 60' times you have right now. I have only put my Convertible down the track once, and already had a hurt engine. Now that the trans has to come out, and is going to get rebuilt, I have been asked what converter I want to run, what my goals are with the car, and stuff like that. Mind you this is my daily driver. I am thinking that while it is out, I might as well freshen the engine, as it is hurt pretty bad. If I get on it much at all it pushes out out the dipstick, and has an amazing case of Blowby. If I just took my old block and bottom end that came from my coupe, had the machine work done, and threw a new cam and lifters in it, then swapped my heads over, and put my other intake on, I could have a fresher engine. Atleast one that would last me longer, and I could then know that the repairs would be behind me. The bottom end being cleaned up and fresh from a machine shop build, and my heads and above I could probably pull everthing, and if the engine was done, I could drop off the trans and by the time everything was done to drop the long block back in, and then put it all back together, I could have my trans finished. From there, it would be just hooking it all back up, and then getting a chip burned that had the appropriate tune on it.
Reason I am asking about the 60 foot times is this. The one time I had mine to the track on street tires it had a 60' of 2.2 seconds on street tires. A couple people commented is that all? and a couple people asked me what was done to it to get out of the hole, so I am confused. Different people asking me about rebuilding the trans and what to put into is, not understanding that the goal is to just drive this on the streets 90% of the time, and not wanting it to go like a rocket makes it tough. Yeah sure I want to be able to go out with you guys and occasionally have a pass here or there, but the track will not let me run it to much being a convertible unless I put a roll bar in it, and that is not going to happen. I plan to finish the coupe to use that as my toy out there, but would really enjoy it if my daily driver was able to pull away from a light and not get spanked by a Prius.
