Well I do not see anything planned, and really do not see anyone posting up anymore. Just thought I would throw this out and see if there is any interest in either a Breakfast or BBQ? Have not seen any of you guys in like forever.

Sounds like it is just you and me at the moment. Any weekend day work better for you. Interested in a Breakfast or a BBQ? What sounds good?

I'm not a very good BBQ guest since I don't eat beef or pork so how about breakfast Saturday the 4th?
Since my mechanic wasn't able to fix my car I have to come up with new plans and there are so many options I'd love to get some feedback on ideas. I'm so undecided on a direction to take the car that yet again it's going to sit all summer.
Saturday the 4th work for anyone/everyone?

So Tony do you eat chicken? I BBQ up some mean street taco's. It is a favorite around here atleast once a week. If not breakfast would work. As for the Mechanic not able to fix your car... what's up. Maybe there is something I can do to help. Older cars without all the fancy computers are closer to what I am used to working on. If the parts are available there should not be anything we could not fix on your C2. Ask and I might even be able to find you the correct vintage parts so we keep the date codes close if that is a concern. Just takes longer to find those parts.

Yeah I love chicken, guess i just assumed most hard core barbeqers frown upon that. I do love street tacos, haven't had a good one since leaving Chicago. So I'm open to any suggestions.
As for the mechanic thing, I took the car to Vince assuming the shifter linkage just needed some small adjustments. I hadn't adjusted anything since getting the car running. Boy I was wrong on the simple adjustment. The actual shifter needs to be rebuilt or replaced and the real downer is the transmission (which as supposed rebuilt before I got it) has to come out because there are issues with 2nd gear synchros. To get the trans out from what I understand, I wont be to far from pulling out the engine as it has to move forward a bit to get the trans out. (I also have some personal annoyances with the engine that I'd like to address.
So if I'm going that far with it do I:
A. Just fix the trans, keep current engine. B. Build the 327 under the shelf and rebuild current trans. C. Go LS based with some kind of 5 speed (T5). D. Something else.
On top of all this the car desperately needs paint. So I'm just unable to really put a good plan together at the moment and the car just sits.

Just my 2 cents worth, I would build the 327 and have it sitting ready on a stand. Depending on budget, and how far you want to go, should take less than a month working on it on weekends. Then in a weekend we could pull your engine and trans, and then bench the trans and rebuild it. Aftermarket shifters are cheap, and would work till you do yours. Not a big deal to rebuild the manual trans in yours, nor the shifter if the parts are there. Then we just put it back in, and you are on the road. If you want to get it painted, that is a hit in the pocket. I know a couple of good guys that can lay some great paint on it, if you decide you do not want to do it yourself. Being you could do it yourself, I could probably call in a favor, and get you a booth for a weekend if you wanted to do it yourself. Either way that is my thoughts.

And for the Taco's I am down to make a big mess of fixings and we can all eat Taco's.
Nic I understand you got a ton of work to do on the new motor but you got to eat too. You could take a break and join us if you like, as I will make sure that there is plenty if you want to come... and if you are busy working, get after it.
And for everyone else reading, lurking, or thinking about joining in.... the more the merry. You are all welcome.
I will put something together and see what we can set up.

I got plans for the 4th already, then I leave on the 5th for another week out of town. Depending on the time I could swing by for a bit but I got Sooch's Bday party on the 4th.

Vince if the wife does not have plans you and the family are more than welcome to come out.
Nic I understand having plans and that motor appears to be coming along great. Looking forward to seeing it running. Tell Sooch Happy Birthday.
