Ok, as you all know I was off on horsepower after the T&T so I came home, decided to see why I was off so many horses. So I pulled the plugs and wires, checked the plugs (2 years old) and they looked great, but I changed them. I started to clean up the old wires and thought that I should OHM them and found # 8 has 0 continutity, and the other wires were all over the place. Purchased some new MSD wires which all ohmd about 40 per foot. Replaced the wires and plugs, fired up the car and was running ok when I heard a rattle deep down low. Had Ross come over and the rattle was getting worse. We jacked up the car and I took off the guard around the flywheel looking for loose something on the flexplate. Really could not see anything. Ross said it sounded and felt like it was coming from inside the pan. What was crazy was that it sounded somewhat tinny. Now I have blown my share of engines and to me it sounded nothing like what I have heard before. We decided to pull the pan, (aaaarrrgg) and Ross came back over. Neither one of us could see anything wrong, Ross crawled under the car and was going to have me start the motor, but before I did, he said he found the problem, the three bolts were as loose as a goose holding the converter to the flexplate. It seems when the transmission shop replace the trans after the rebuild (long story there) they only used right stuff on the bolts. The came loose. I purchased some RED Loctite used a lot of it and tightened the bolts. Likely around 100 lbs torque.. Just guessing... Pretty tight... Cleaned up the pan, and the bottom of the block and replaced the gasket (one piece blue one) used a decent amount of "right stuff" on the ends of the gasket and installed the pan. Let everything set overnight. Before taking my mother to church, I filled it up with new oil and filter, fired it up. No leaks!!!! hallelujah.. A re-tune and off to the dyno.
