OK, I know I said this would not happen, and my wife said ABSOLUTELY NO ! But,dang it,I can feel the 10s a coming ! ;D ;D ;D So Here are some before/during and hopefully happily after photos of the vette going under the knife(or welder in this case) First pic is what it looked like nekkid, sitting in the fab shop waiting for the new bars to go in. I initially was planning on swing away dr door bar only but they pointed out that it would be a great time to do both doors now. Oh well, why not,I am already sleeping out in the 5th wheel ! I will add pics as it goes, hope to have it done by this weekend so I can go play. I cant possibly get in any more trouble right ?

Cannot wait to see it with the bars in it. I gotta go back to work in the morning, but if you need any help in the evenings or this weekend, so you can come out to the Test and Tune, or/and the Races the following saturday, let me know.

Are you putting in different seats and a harness (drivers at least)? Camlock quick release are the best if you haven't purchases one yet.

But,dang it,I can feel the 10s a coming ! ;D ;D ;D As previously stated, 10s don't require a cage. Your MPH might soon, but 10s don't. A cage isn't needed until the 9s. A roll BAR is needed to go below 11.50 in a coupe, but it is good down to 10.00 flat, in a car with an unaltered body. Who is doing the work? Mild steel or chromoly? Good luck with the project I hope to see you racing soon.

He'll be needing the cage. That car has more then 10's in it, he just doesn't know it yet He's being modest, seriously. I wouldn't doubt that car could push 800+ hp on high boost (if it hasn't already). You can get 500-600+ hp outta 65lb a minute single turbo on a four banger. He's running twin turbo's on a built motor.

I ordered a pair of Simpson camlocks Thurs, should have them today. I am looking at seats as the power dr side weighs a TON ! I also ditched or will anyway, the Sub and enclosure as well as all the junk I have stashed in the back.I still have lots of work to do,I want to get the nitrous bottle mounted and ready just in case,I want to be right down around 10.2-10.1 this weekend .

Kirkey seats are very light weight. Not very comfortable, but light weight. I ran them previously and am planning on running them again.

Just got back from fab shop,NO front hoop til fall/end of yearish. The dash sits so far back it is in the way as is.So I am going to leave it out til I can pull the dash as I want to run the bar through the dash and simply dont have time right now. They are going to weld in the floor mount plates while they are doing it as we know where the hoop will be. I will update with pics as I forgot to take my camera. Kim,the seats you posted look like what we ran circletrack, light but as you said,NOT designed for the long haul !! They are an option,we will see.

I figured I would do it all now just in case, since the interior is out but looks like its going to get taken apart once more. It will be interesting to see what they say if I crack 135,I hope they dont make me tear it back apart now I just want to play a little, but I want the cage to be installed properly and not look like some drunk HS kids got together with dads welder ,you know ? BTW,Ben hanks racing is doing the cage/fab work. They build Class 8 desert race trucks as well as rock crawlers, this little job is nothing for their shop. The laser cut floor mount plates are a work of art, look like factory race car parts.I will post a pic, they are doing a very nice job !

UPDATE ! Got my baby back finally !!! Picked it up tonight,I am happy with how it turned out, except for the $$$$ but I did kinda drop it on them at the last minute. And they were VERY fair priced,I just didnt budget enough,my fault. Anyway,I am masking, taping to paint tonight then tomorrow after dyno,I will put interior back in. Feels kinda different,I think because it seems louder/harsher with no carpet/insulation. The door bars take a little getting used too,but the are quick release so again no biggie. I will post a few picks later as I am trying to beat the sun,its gonna be a LONG night !
