Another pic,of the front swingaway mount plate. I had it made large enough to accept the front hoop when we add that this fall.Should speed things up.Not shown on these floor plates are the undercar reinf plates that extend out to the framerail itself.I was not comfortable with bolting the bar to balsa wood floors.

Rear hoop pics, cross bar has mounts for the 5pt belts, kickers extend back as far as we could go and still make for a clean install.

Here is a pic with the door bar open, swings out nicely and has a simple lock pin holding it shut. Both door bars remove completely for daily driving. My upholstery guy is going to make a couple of black leather "sleeves" to cover the protruding ends attached to the rear hoop when bars are not in use. Even with the seat all the way back they do not interfere as bad as it appears.

And a few painted,I know its the same bar but, hey, its all black now ! Oh,and in case you were wondering ? Yes,black rustoleum leaves a nice film on your body and works fairly good as hairspray !

Nice..................side bars a pain though. Yep,they are a pain but required so that is why we did swing outs.I will remove them most of the time, two pins and they are gone.

Is this to NHRA specs? I thought it had to be on a 6x6ish size plate?

The plate is that size,as well as 1/4 inch EACH side, with the exception of the half moon cutout for the seat.NHRA specifies 1/8 acceptable. So perhaps we could argue about it but I dont think they will.It also says it is OK to bolt to the floor,I dont tend to agree thats the safest choice on our cars either. What do you think ? Wolfe has a flat plate but only about 4x4 flat on the floor, mine is overlapped up on the rear tub section as well as welded/bolted . I would like to have others opinions as I am by no means an expert, anyone

Well I am far from any kind of expert either, but have see quite a few Pro Street cars, and road race cars back in Indy, and with out a fault, any that had a plate bolted to the floor that ever were in any kind of bump, or bang let alone a crash, tore the floor. I know of one car that bottomed out going over a railroad crossing, and the bending of the body caused the floor to tear up around the plates. I know that if it is stronger than they want, you should be golden. If they give you any guff about it, let me know, and we can see about creating drawings of your cage, and plates, and frame areas, and talk with an Engineer friend of mine, to see if he can put some numbers to what we are saying, and have a PE/ME state it is stronger than they require. (PE/ME is Professional Engineer/Mechanical Engineer) Pretty sure I could get him to do it for trade with you. He is a major car nut, and just to ride in your machine would be more than payment with him I am sure. He has a Mustang, and road races it (He has a driver- he is just the owner) but said he would love to take his down the drag strip. I told him to come out with us one Test and Tune and he can put some numbers to the car he owns with him in the seat. Hell if I can drive mine down the 1/4 Mile I am sure he can.
Just my opinion
