one of us c4 guys needs to get one of the msd optispark dist. and let every one know how good they are. i bet its all its cracked up to be but i wand to know if the +or - 5 deg. timing screw is as good as it sounds. it may finaly let us lt1 guys use the test and tune nites to play and test AND tune for real!!! i dont like being locked out of my motor and have no way to make small changes for new parts or track / street use. the msd unit looks soooo good ill most likely get one one day but sooner if some one has some feed back.

I have installed one in a Camaro, and a friend has one in his. The solid reliability of the unit is the biggest plus, the timing adj is a bonus. Your other option is the remote coil pack assy A LA northstar. Either one is better than OE,and yes,the job is unpleasant !

un pleasant to say the least. i have had mine off 3 or 4 times and im now good at it. i realy want to know if anyone has made more power by fine tuneing the timeing. i know that i can get a new tune but to do that for every mod i want to get as close as i can after each mod. ie, i got a dyno tune just before i moved from so. cal. and now i need another one for elev./ bigger fule injectors that i put on getting ready for a 383 conv.(i needed new ones and didnt want to buy stock then bigger later on ) etc. yea i can wait and put all the good stuff on when im ready for a tune but come on, how many of us can look at new parts and not put them on?

Man I hear you there. I am about to start gathering parts for my rebuild, (And already have a few in the garage) and it is going to be impossible to wait. I am going to want to put it all on and together. I plan to make a large sign for the garage that just says "Patients" and in small letters under it I will put "Good things come to those who take their time. Pay attention to details" I need to keep reminding myself of that. I plan to do a ton, so I am going to have to also make sure to pace myself and get it all done in time for my own deadlines, but have to remember that those parts sitting there eat nothing, and no need to rush.
Nice thing is with you right up the street, I get to hear about your mods as you do them, and you can see mine too! I am leary about seeing Highpockets and Snowmans mods. Have seen and heard a ton and those are some serious cars.

I hope to modify mine as much as your almost stock ride! No Matter what I do, I am positive it will be a long love afair! Something special about doing something major on your car, and getting to drive and enjoy it. I am sure everyone on here understand!
