I would like to send out a very special thank you today!
Thank you Vince for opening up your shop, and your tool box, so I could get that last couple things (Ok so it was quite a bit more than a couple) unbolted, and then helping me pull the Engine and trans out of my car, and then powering up your steam cleaner/pressure washer..... It did an amazing job under there.
Thank you Bob (Snowman) for getting in there, getting greasy, and helping to get it all unhooked, and pulled out.
Both these guys met me down there, and after we had some breakfast, they helped me unload it, and then helped me push it in. Then we unbolted all kinds of things, pushed it off the lift, and pulled it out as an assembly. (I now think I wish I had remembered to drain the trans fluid out) and then helped me push it out to degrease it. I bet I lost a few pounds out of that car, just cleaning the grease off that crossmember.
I can say this.... I will not let it get that way again! I want to be like a few of you guys, that can work on their cars, and not get dirty to the elbow with black grease.
A big thank you again. Now I am going to get it apart the rest of the way, (Seperate the engine and trans.) and get it torn down. From there, it is a matter of cleaning parts, Painting tins, and polishing aluminum. I will take out the bore gauges, and check for out of round, but I am pretty sure that the block is fine that way too. You can still see hone marks all the way around the cylinders. Then after a bit, I will order the parts (Saving for them, and getting through the holidays) and then get the block to the machine shop. From there, I will build a short block, and decide on what I am going to do for heads. That will give me some time to either save, or trade for what I want. Then finish up the other few things I want to do to it, and get it ready to go back in. Once it is ready to go in, there will still be the Headers, and work on the exhaust. Once that is completed, and the all tightend up to flow exhaust all the way to the rear of the car.... I will be ready to do all the wiring. I am guessing still Marchish, and I will be close.
