Based on your experience, how do you adj/compensate for a green track ? Or should I say, after 3 weeks of rain, then trying to run with NO TnT prior to the event(and no I am not complaining, the weather just would not co-operate) Seems like we chased our tail last night. I think I should not have pushed it so hard to start, then, after the second run, left it alone and drive it the way it was.Of course, hindsight is an easy out,but I totally missed the curve last night. Just wondering how you would approach that situation, given a car that runs numbers like mine ? I dont think the conditions would affect the sportsman cars as much, but I could be wrong. Input/info as always is appreciated !

Unfortunately, there is no set answer. Experience and knowing your car will be your biggest asset. As you did, tire pressure and launch rpms are two great ways to deal with varying track conditions. However, for bracket racing, maximum traction, even if it isn't consistent with the ultimate ET, is the more successful set up. A bracket car is best with a big, soft tire, that consistently, never spins. Unless absolutely horrible, track conditions shouldn't be a big concern for a bracket car. A class car wouldn't want the weight, flywheel effect, or drag, of more tire than necessary to get the job done. Consistency, not the quickest ET possible, is what wins in bracket racing. It sounds like you are well on your way.

I agree. Hindsight is usually 20/20. I try as hard as possible to keep everything the same from run to run. I try to have the engine temp the same, I try to stage exactly the same. Everything. The more consistent I can be, the less I have to worry about the car. Rather than adjusting on the car and hope the changes will keep the car consistent, I prefer to adjust the dial. I am certainly no expert, but I do what I can for "repeatability". Your greatest asset will be "seat time". Are you going to be racing the Street Legal Series?

I am considering it as it allows me to run twice as much, thereby doubling my already slow learning curve.Maybe by next year I will have it figured out ? Thanks for the input !

Once I get all the parts on my car, and it is back together, I plan on running Test and Tunes, Summit Series, and Street series.... The only way I am ever going to get the car dialed in, and also get any good at lights, and launches, and knowing the car is going to be seat time. I am going to try to get it completed by the start of the season next year, and try to run every weekend. Also am considering trying out Wendover, and maybe making a couple of road trips next season too. Want to get it together, and then do my best to not change anything once it is dialed in.
A wise man told me that if you want to become consistant, you need to work at getting good on the lights, and need to stop changing and adjusting every run. Just get out there and get the seat time.

Slow? No. The increased seat time would be invaluable. I look forward to you joining us. " Maybe by next year I will have it figured out ?" Ya think? It is a lot like a woman (God bless 'em) just when you think you know how it works, everything changes. When you get it figured out, clue me in.

I KNOW what not to do, but it isn't always easy not doing them. Yes! I always take pity on a lowly rookie. Do you know of any? It should be fun racing together.

Besides the Street Legal Series are you racing with the big boys on Friday and Saturday? The schedule I have shows the first round of Pro time trials at 10:30 AM both days. On Friday the second is at noon and first round of eliminations is at 2:30 PM. Saturday first round of eliminations is at 12:45 PM. There is only one TT on Saturday.

As you know, I'm not racing the Summit series this year. I'm not planning to be there. Due to the time commitment required I just thought I'd check. You know, if you were to build her a race car, your parole officer might become more lenient. Food for thought. ;D
