Putting a motor together. Right now the plan is
5.3L L92 Aluminum Block Darton Dry Sleeves Diamond Coated 4.125" pistons Callies Compstar HD H-beam 6.125" Rods Callies Compstar 4" Long Snout Crank ARP Main Studs ARP Head Studs Morel Link-bar Lifters Compression ratio should be ~9.7:1 Need to pick out a cam.
Probably swap to a bigger blower and some other little things while the motor is out.

ok, what you up to now. That motor looks nasty. Are you using your new heads...

Yes. I had a lifter break Saturday so have to pull the heads, cam and pan off. Might as well just lift the block out and put in a new one made for big power. Nothing wrong with the current motor so might as well sell it while it is still in good shape.

Thinking of just swapping to a Ysi while I'm at it.

Wow, dead in here. I'll probably have the mains pinned. Need to decide on a cam. Later I'll have to add a fuel system and some other stuff. At first it will be a mild setup just because I won't have the fuel system to make much more than 650rwhp. Once I get pumps I'll be good for upto 1000rwhp.

700-720rwhp. Nothing too extreme. Should be pretty easy.

Not sure yet. Probably Livernois. They are going to sleeve it, machine it for 1/2" head studs, etc. Might as well do it all.

If not them, then ERL, or RED.
Probably going to throw some billet main caps and other junk at it. Might as well go all out.

Just looks like a bad lifter. Cam stuff was all tight. All the lifters cam right out. The one with the broken tip I just pushed down so it didn't damage the bore. Pistons, valves, etc all look great. Pictures added

Going a new route. Ugh. Decisions suck.
Getting rid of everything LS7 in my car and just going to a different style motor. Cheaper but that is what I can afford to do.

Any thoughts of why the lifter broke.

I know exactly why. It is a long explanation. Basically comp makes nutsty cams with little quality control.
