well good news guys.. my car is done and working, right where I want it. Bought HP tuners and had a friend help me create a new VE and fuel/timing map for it. Took is about 3 hours of dyno runs.. knock sensors at 0, no pinging, great fuel map and economy.. before we started I did a preliminary run, put down 413 I think, then after the tuning the best we could muster was 430. Not a huge gain, but the drivability would be tons better with a whole new custom map and tune so I was happy. Right as we were ready to pull it off we decided to unhook my air box & filter and just leave the intake open at the MAF. We threw it on the dyno and talk about a difference. night and day. the blower was 3x louder, and we hit 5 lbs of boost instead of 3 without doing any other changes.. put down 450 whp and it was throwing knock codes like crazy.. so we retuned it for the 5lbs of boost, got the knock to zero and wow is the only words that come to mind. 465 WHP @ 5lbs boost... the car pulls all the way to redline and feels like a whole new car. Before, it would pull hard out of the hole and just turd off mid to high RPM, probably because it couldn't suck enough air to keep the power up, which is why I was only hitting 3 lbs. I put on a new intake and drove the car for the past day and my gas mileage is 100% better and the car runs like I always wanted it too.. I am very happy now and it cost me $45.00 for a new intake and filter. lol. I think the limits of these ls6 shortblocks is around 550-600 crank, which I am probably 540 right now so I want to leave it there and just enjoy it. Just thought I would share the good news. Feels like a whole new caddy. started with this about a month ago: and now after my dyno run yesterday..

the limit on the LS6 shortblock is not the shortblock, but actually the pistons. They are actually good to around 600 RWHP with a good solid tune as well.

Nice job. That should help your traps! Keep in mind that in the "real world" you're farther from "the limit" than you stated, b/c you're car (as it is now) will never make ~540 at the crank due to elevation. That will limit things to about 480 at the crank.

Great news. I have suggested that Tom400CFI may have a similar problem causing his throttle lag. I thought I'd suggested the possibility a restriction in either the intake or the exhaust on your car, but I don't see where I posted it. The A/F ratio in your "before" dyno chart looks horribly rich. It appears that even in the "after" chart it could benefit from leaning it a bit, unless that is where it has to be in order to stay out of detonation. The power you should have has certainly appeared. Congrats! I'm glad to hear you found and were able to correct the problem.
In reviewing this thread, I queued up your video from Wendover. After a surprisingly quick (less that 10 minutes) buffering time, I was able to watch the whole 1 minute, 8 seconds without a hitch or glitch.

thanks guys. I wasn't for sure on the limits, that is just what I gathered from browsing a few sites. I just don't want to be near the limits. Thats when things don't last. If I wanted to race this car like crazy I would keep adding more and more but I love the way it runs right now and I know myself, I have a hard time stopping.. but this time around this is where I need to stop before I blow it up. I hit a 13.3 last time at wendover crawling out of 1st gear and now the car is night and day difference, I am hoping to go to the last wendover this sunday and see what I can do now its tuned with 5lbs of boost.
I am hoping 12's which I will be WAY happy with if I can do. If I had drag radials it would help a lot, but that's okay. It pulls a lot different than before now it can breathe.. I will make sure to get it on video so you can check it out. I just cant believe how much louder the blower is. its amazing. The thing I noticed more than anything is my economy though.. My gas mileage is 100% better. I had 3/4 tank when we took it off the dyno and its still right below 3/4.. 2 days later after driving it quite a bit.. I definately see a noticeable difference there.. Nathan, How many months does Wendover stay open. When will one not be able to run there any longer this year...

The date for Sunday isn't listed, but if there is something happening Sunday, it looks like the "gates open at noon".

Well if they offered a drifting award going down the 1/4 mile I would have the 1st place award today.. LoL.. I need tires.. Next spring I will buy some drag radials and see how I do and fix this d**n WHEEL HOP once and for all with the BMR kit this winter. 245 Street tires just dont cut it, especially with my car bouncing like hell.. I was boiling my tires half way down the track.. Hopefully I will have another video uploaded soon by Robert with different angles or anyone else that happened to get vids of my car, but this gives you an idea. it was a fun day though and awesome weather.. On the way home from wendover me and my cousin passed a black C6 Z06 and I tried to race him for fun but he wouldn't.. I know he would of won me but I just wanted to play and he didnt accept the challenge this time, probably because his wife was in the car lol.. Oh well.. I just wanted a cool video of getting owned by a c6..

One word; Restraint! LOL! Even though you CAN obliterate the tires... That thing looks FBA w/that amount of power and tq. I bet it's a total HOOT to drive now! Cool vid! What did you end up running? How many passes were you able to make?
